ABOUT STACEY McINTYRE-GONZALEZ

Stacey studied Print Journalism and Photography at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario, where she was the Entertainment Editor for the Algonquin Times. She got her start writing advertorials for the Ottawa Sun. After publishing a piece in the Algonquin Times about a local band, she was hired as a copywriter by Hummingbird Music. She continued to freelance, working with musicians and bands doing promotional writing, bookings, and photography. Shortly after she continued her media career at TV Media Inc. as  Editorial Editor and Layout Designer until she moved back to the Ottawa Valley.

Inspired by her love for animals, she launched Paws For Reaction, a pet-themed blog that is now read all over the world. Paws For Reaction will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2022. She has been featured on Dog Food Advisor, Traversing, People.com, and LA Times Online. She is an online influencer, working independently and with marketing companies including Blog Paws and Taplinfluence. She has created marketing campaigns for companies like PetSmart, Nutrience, blueStem, Whimzees, and Bayer.

Stacey continued her work as a freelance writer and photographer in the Ottawa Valley. Her work has been featured in the Pembroke Observer, Petawawa Post, myFM, and the Eganville Leader, and she was an Animal Training Examiner for Examiner.com. She has interviewed some interesting people, including Maria Menounos, Daniel Victor, Darris Cooper, Sue Johanson, Jess Rona, Dan Schachner, and Ron Jeremy!

 

In 2015 she joined the Pembroke Animal Hospital (PAH) team, working in client service and as Media Coordinator; handling internal communications, copywriting, in-house photography, and social media design and management. She created the PAH American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) Accredited Practice of the Year application; shooting photography, writing copy, and designing the 300-page document. The hospital went on to win the prestigious international award, becoming the AAHA 2016 Accredited Practice of the Year. PAH is the first Canadian clinic to win the award. Her photography was featured in AAHA's blog Red and Trends Magazine, and she was interviewed about the AAHA win. Her photography has been used in AAHA promotional and educational materials.

She consulted with Digital Empathy on the new PAH website redesign www.Pemah.com and created copy and photography for the project. She was interviewed by OVMA about the new website design. In 2020 she began a similar role, embarking on a career as a Communications Manager at the Consolidated Cat Hospitals of Ottawa; Bytown Cat Hospital, and Merivale Cat Hospital. They are Ottawa's only veterinary hospitals devoted exclusively to cats and are co-owned by Ottawa's only board-certified feline specialist, Dr. Susan Little. In fact, she's one of only six feline specialists in Canada!

Stacey is one of the few people working in media and public relations in Ontario who specializes in veterinary and animal care content. She shared her expertise when she was featured on Purr Podcast in 2023. She manages planning and press for veterinary events, provides team wellness support, creates successful fundraising campaigns, applies for community-voted awards, and has implemented progressive and comprehensive veterinary client service training. Stacey has completed several veterinary courses and certifications. She has completed courses in veterinary practice management and online reputation management. She is experienced in veterinary e-commerce, telemedicine platforms, and website management.

 

Her freelance portfolio includes work for businesses like Smart.Vet, AAHA, OSPCA, and Purr Podcast. She regularly contributed to epetsure's Daily Paw Post and Scout Knows blog. During her nearly 10 years working in the veterinary and animal care niche, she has cultivated close relationships with other leading veterinary professionals in Canada and the United States.

 

Stacey volunteers her media services to local animal shelters and wildlife conservation groups. In 2017 she was certified as a Climate Reality Leader by former Vice President Al Gore in Denver, Colorado. She is a social media ambassador for Ontario Nature and the Canadian ambassador for the global environmental organization Team 54 Project. She is on the Future Ground Network Graphic Design Superteam, an unbranded arm of the David Suzuki Foundation that provides free media resources and support to grassroots environmental groups. She volunteers as a Girl Guides of Canada Brownie Leader and has worked on a Communications Committee in politics- she even created communications for a Federal Election. She has worked in media since 2008, and resides in Ottawa, Ontario.
